Washing, storage and upkeep. So your wig lasts much, much longer.
A good wig is an investment - and with the right care it can last years and look wonderful. Here are the rules I give every client leaving the studio.
Washing: every 2-3 weeks, no more. Over-washing exhausts the hair. Lukewarm water, gentle shampoo, and no scrubbing - stroke the hair in one direction. Leave conditioner in for a few minutes and rinse gently.
Drying: never wring. Pat gently with a towel, then air-dry on a wig head. If you must blow-dry - lowest heat only, and only when the hair is already nearly dry.
A well-cared-for wig does not age - it matures beautifully.
Storage: a wig head. Period. A wig tossed on a chair or stuffed in a drawer loses its shape. A wig head preserves the structure, the volume, and your investment.
Heat: the great enemy. An open oven, a steaming dishwasher, even lifting the lid off a bubbling pot - wig hair is more sensitive than natural hair. Mind where you stand in the kitchen.
And maintenance with us: every few months, give your wig a spa day at the workshop. Professional washing, structure renewal, treating wear points. It is the difference between a wig that lasts two years and one that lasts seven.
